A sunset for those of you who are enjoying the overcast days.
Today was a day of teaching. I put my camera into the hands of my friend and practiced my knowledge of my camera and my vision, and sought to execute it through her hands. I think it was a great … Continue reading
So I guess I need to start this post off with a little explanation before I get into the photos. From the title you might be able to understand what I was doing…having fun…with my phone, and those sunglasses. I was thinking about this on my way back from lunch today; my sunglasses are polarized. I don’t have a polarizing lens on my camera phone. Lastly, what the heck would happen if both were to meet in an unholy union. The answer my friends…was actually not very surprising. So take a look at my adventure today during the end of my lunch hour trying to make something magically out of thin air (no really, it was magic).
This was my control for this experiment. If I can’t get good results from using my sunglasses, then I never have to look silly again holding my glasses up to my phone. So let’s take a look at some of the later experiments.

Alright this image is with my "filter" on. It is a bit darker, but the clouds are definitely more visible.
The result might look good from one aspect, but it is a bit darker. This is where I brought the filtered image over to Snapseed to play around.

This was my first attempt to start editing this picture with Snapseed. Quite of bit of extra noise added to the image (not my intention) and overall a lack of quality. Failure.

I restarted from the original filter image and tried to go for a black and white look. Not a huge fan of making the sky black and white, but I think it looks a bit better than the previous image.

This was my final experiment. I went back to color and tried to enhance the cloud and the color the sky. It definitely looks better than the first attempt, and it gets away from the black and white image. I would call this a success.
So from a simple thought of trying to do something completely new and innovated (ha), I managed to have some fun with my phone and sunglasses. I am sure a lot of grain in these images is coming from trying to alter these JPGs and also from the sunglasses lens. Let me know what you think.
Until tomorrow.
