As I have increased my photography skills over the past year, I’ve also upgraded pretty much everything in my bag, so here is the new edition of “What’s In My Bag?”
- Canon 5d Mark II
- Sears KS-2 SLR 35mm Film w/ 50mm f/1.7 (Placed in storage for now)
- Canon EF 50mm f/1.4 w/ B&W 72mm UV Filter
- Canon EF 17-40mm f/4 L
- Sigma 70-200 f/2.8 (non image stabilizer)
- Canon Speedlite 580EX II
- Lenspen cleaning tool and soft cloth
- LED Flashlight
- Think Tank Restrospective 7 (Bigger and better than the 5).
I picked up the Think Tank Retrospective 7 because it was a good deal, and the bag provides more space. When I upgraded to the 70-200 lens, I needed a deeper bag to carry that around. It also comes with an awesome compartment that holds a small laptop or an iPad. Everything else I loved about the 5 is in this bag, with a bit more wiggle room. Totally recommend this bag for those willing to spend a little extra money.
If anyone every has questions about What’s In My Bag?? feel free to ask.

Good to know. I’m a Canon as well. Just upgraded to the Mark III and it does not disappoint. Cool to see you also use film.
Thanks for stopping by snappy~speak!

Thanks, Christy, though, film has been a smaller portion of my shooting as it is more a pain to get the film developed.
How do find that 50mm for hand-held low light work. I’ve thought about looking for a used one although I usually prefer to buy my equipment brand new.
As long as a lens isn’t beat to hell, a used one is a very good bet. The 50mm is pretty good hand-held. I have gotten a bit better with steady holding, but the Actors, Athletes…page was done all hand held.
Invitation for a new project –> take a look over here –> http://www.cpplusphotography.wordpress.com/2012/10/31/project/
love the kit. i too use canon, although i only have a pair of 60d’s not a 5d. thinktank bags are amazing. i have the retrospective 30 and it’s the best shoulder bag i have ever used. i also have one of the airport ones which is great for travelling.
Hey, Mark, thanks for the comment. I really like the Think Tank bags, and I think maybe in the future I’ll look into a more travel friendly bag. Right now, I just use it as a “man purse” when traveling, heh heh.
totally. i have done 3 months on the road this year and it’s been everywhere with me.
