I’ve been wanting to capture this shot for a while now. This little blue building is in an area I don’t normally go. It is a beat down construction that is overrun with weeds and deterioration, and I love it!I think my favorite part of this structure, besides the gritty look of it, is this broken phone booth attached to the side. It even has the phone book holder if you look at it closely. This is a shot of the left side of the building, with an actual new looking door in the center, and then another concrete window on the right, with a fallen metal grate dangling from a rivet. I know this building isn’t being used, but the door made me doubt myself, and as I was shooting I was constantly wondering if someone was going to come charging out and waving a gun at me. I guess it added some suspense to my travels.
I touched this up a bit in post. I originally shot with a bit of a higher exposure than I wanted, so I need to work that down. I brought in some more color to build up the contrast of the blue and green. The last thing I did was to crop out just enough of the side walls to leave the proper subjects in view. It is fun to see what you can find around you, even if it’s just a battered wall.
Until tomorrow.

Great shot Dan.
I like the way you composed it.
Thanks, Pablo.
Very cool!
Thank you, Jeremy.
Nice shot! I like old buildings like this, wondering what they used to be and used to look like.
Thanks, CK. It was pretty small. I’m thinking some sort of shop or maybe mechanic.
