50@50 Day 27: Metal Flower

1/400sec 50mm f/11 ISO 100

Alright we are back in business and not taking any prisoners. The photojourney (new word) was successful, even with the thick amount of haze creeping through the sky from a local forest fire blazing. I give to you, the Metal Flower.Actually, I don’t remember what this is called, but this was built and placed near the convention center in downtown New Bern. It is pretty cool, and though you cannot see it in the still life of a photo, you can see there are many parts. This huge metallic structure actually moves around in the wind. It is pretty cool to watch actually.

I made my way to this exact point when I was coming across the bridge, because I noticed the sun trying to come out from behind the clouds. It was creating a really clean edge. By the time I got to this point though, it changed a little bit. Either way, I managed to capture a few of these shots. In post, I turned down the shadows and black values to show the color of the metal. It does look a little grainy, but it’s metal. To eliminate most of the grain I turned up the noise cancellation to give a more smooth look. The only cropping I did for this picture was when I shifted the image. Otherwise, there was no real crop necessary. Not too shabby.

Is anyone else getting hit by a heat wave? It felt extremely warm today, but I’m in NC; I guess it’s normal. Leave your comments and critiques and enjoy the evening.

Until tomorrow.
